Fleetwood grabs PGA travelers in mind while the best placed stars fade

Tommy Fleetwood in England, looking for his first PGA Tour title, pulled one by 63 seven sous to take a three -stroke advance after the third round of the Saturday traveler championship.

Merseysider, aged 34, won the 13th per-five for the second consecutive day on the way to stand on 16-mine 194 after 54 holes at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.

The American Russell Henley, who won his fifth PGA title in March in March in Bay Hill, equaled his Low career PGA round with a 61 without Bogey to share second on 197 with the captain of the Ryder Cup, Keegan Bradley, who fired 63.

“It will really come back to a lot of things,” said Fleetwood. “Being in the last group, I’m really happy with that.

“I am satisfied with the work I did. It’s just an incredible opportunity to go out here tomorrow and I hope it’s my time.”

The world number one Scottie Scheffler, Rory McILroy, second row, and the world number five Justin Thomas fell back to fall back well, Scheffler and Thomas having shared the 36 -hole advance with Fleetwood.

The Paris Olympic finalist, Fleetwood, ranked 17th, has seven victories of DP World Tour, but none on the PGA despite 41 top-10.

Fleetwood sank a sneaktened putt just inside 13 feet in the third hole and rolled in a 66-foot sneaktened putt, his season, in the fifth par-three.

In the sixth row, Fleetwood dropped his approach a few centimeters from the hole and typed for Birdie.

Fleetwood made a 19 -foot stewed putt at the 10th then Eagled 13, flowing a Putt 30 feet right next to the green – “13 has been very nice to me so far. I would like to follow that.”

Fleetwood, who had two eagles during the season at the start of the week, has done three in the last two days and only one Bogey this week.

After driving green at the 15th of the four to install Aa Tap-In Birdie, Fleetwood closed with three pars.

“It was nice to take a good start,” said Fleetwood. “Bogey Libre is always good.”

Henley made five birdies on the first nine to move less than two of the head and stayed on the heels of Fleetwood most of the day, adding a 14th -12s Birdie putt, a seven feet for Birdie at 13, a four foot with Birdie 14 and a fencing flock of five feet outside.

“I did very well,” said Henley. “It was a really solid turn, hit a lot of big shots. I hope I can continue to do it.”

Bradley, winner of travelers in 2023, sorted out four of the first seven holes, three of his two -foot -off sips, and sorted three of the last six holes, a five feet in the last striking part of the second.

“Everyone counts because we are going to have to go out and shoot another bottom tomorrow,” said Bradley.

– The best rated stars stumbling –

The defending champion Scheffler had trouble his 29th birthday, making a triple Bogey and a double bogey in the same round for the first time in his career in the dismissal of a 72 to stand in 203.

Scheffler has made his first triple Bogey since last August, missing the first green of a neighboring bunker, then finding the rough.

The winner of the PGA championship last month found water on the eighth tee on the way to a double bogey.

Thomas, a major double winner, took a quadruple Bogey new in the 13th, losing his TEE shot on the raw left and needing three shots to escape Greenside Rough, on the shooting path of 73 to stand in 204.

McILroy pulled a 68 to stand in 203. He sorted out four of the first eight holes, his longest putt among them from 11 feet in the fourth, before a double bogey at 12 dropped him back, taking four to reach green after having gone long with his approach.
