Against an attack by the best bowling player on the planet, Jasprit Bumrah, it was an act of audacity and challenge to rank alongside the biggest round that the game has seen.
And although this was a new remarkable new summit for the 30 -year -old, he has continued a constant trend in impressive performance since his return to the team in December 2022. In 30 appearances since the start of his second chapter, he scored 2,511 points to an average of 47.37 and a typing rate of 88.07.

Michael Vaughan said “book for book I don’t think there is a better player in the game”, Nasser Hussain presented his references as “the best multi-format drummer in the world” and Sir Alastair Cook has classified him as “the one who is most difficult to play”.
Testimonials like that, as well as a new eighth summit in the world ranking of the ICC, could easily go to the head, but Duckett attributes his best work to be older, wiser and less likely to get carried away.
“My state of mind is personally a little different from what has been in the past two years. Potentially, there is a little maturity that comes into play,” he said.

“It’s just to do this and remove the ego from things. Knowing that I don’t need to do this. When it happens, it is to do the breakthrough, get me out, and if you go through this period, it becomes easier.
“Playing more test matches, learning errors, is number one. Chess is easy to make changes and learn, rather than simply when you manage well. ”
Duckett was not on the side when Ben Stokes produced his own “ Miracle of Headingley ” in the 2019 Ashes, or when England began to constitute their reputation as peer hunters in the first summer under the captain of the latter.

England Zak Crawley has moved as a Duckett opening partner (Danny Lawson / PA)
Duckett started in summer as the only member of the Top Trois of England who is not under control, but hundreds of consecutive has put Ollie Pope safe. Zak Crawley followed a century against Zimbabwe with a laudable support of 65 while the opening pair drained the confidence of India with a position of 188 on Tuesday.
He seems to have put a tortuous pre-Christmas tour in New Zealand behind him and once again benefits from a productive partnership at the top of the order.

“The leadership of this team does not really talk about these things-if my place was under pressure, they would certainly not tell me,” he said.
“But I did not play how I wanted to play in winter and I feel much better in my game now. For me, it all depends on the way I play and I play much better now.”
