Ten Greenock Glenpark Harriers runners organized a series of great performances during the Glasgow 10 km women’s race.

With a dry sky, calm winds and a hot summer atmosphere, the conditions could not have been better. The race began at the emblematic riverside Museum, with runners leaving along the Clyde before weaving the vibrant heart of the merchant city and ending in the lush Glasgow Green.

The route offered a picturesque mixture of urban monuments and streets doubled in the crowd, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

The starting line burst, but among the participants’ sea, it was easy to spot the blue and yellow vests familiar with the runners of Glenpark Harriers – and despite the loaded start, they delivered brilliant performances at all levels.

Kirsten Robin had a revolutionary race, breaking his bp and coming well under the moment at 58:56, and Lorna McMillan was not far behind with a fantastic finish of 59:49.

Mary McCabe launched a determined race, finishing in 1:08:45, and Mary Robinson and Sharon McNeil ran side by side with a great spirit, with Mary just forward in a sprint finish.

Meanwhile, Seven Harriers represented their club in the annual 10 km race of “Roon the Toon” in Kilmarnock, on a fast and flat route combining the roads of the city center and the countryside.

Neil Lafferty led the contingent house of Harriers in 32:49, which was good enough to win him third place on the Podium V40 and a bronze medal during the day.

It was closely followed by Dylan Crawford in 32:53 after another narrow race between the two athletes, who both recorded the PBS during the day.
