Brentford agrees that Keith Andrews succeeds Thomas Frank as new head coach

Brentford concluded an agreement to make Keith Andrews his new head coach after the departure of Thomas Frank in Tottenham.

Andrews, who joined the bees last season as a moving coach, has never occupied the role of head coach.

As Standard sport Reported in April, Andrews previously made the restricted list of four men for the vacant management position at MK Dons, where he had previously played and served as assistant during the 2015-16 season under Karl Robinson.

Andrews was also an assistant under Stephen Kenny for those under 21 and the senior team of the Republic of Ireland before playing a role of coach at Sheffield United during the 2023-24 campaign.

To assume the role of the head coach in Brentford constitutes a massive step for Andrews, as he should lead the bees in their fifth consecutive season in the Premier League.

Brentford previously promoted from the interior when the job of the head coach in 2018 after the departure of Dean Smith at Aston Villa, and the club is encouraged by the fact that Andws are encouraged, which has already spent a year in western London.

The decision to appoint Andrews is the biggest risk that the club has taken since the promotion of the high flight in 2021, but they will indicate the success of Frank as reason to believe that they made the right decision to promote from the inside.

Brentford had examined a number of alternative options from all over Europe before landing on Andrews, with Kieran McKenna from Ipswich and Francesco Farioli, formerly of Ajax, strongly linked.

Andrews’ lack of experience as number one means that it will be interesting to see if Brentford has opted to surround the 44-year-old man with back-shop staff who have head coach references.

Damien Duff, director of Shelbourne, recently died of becoming an assistant from Andrews, but Duff and Brentford have since moved away from these claims.

In the end, Brentford opted for continuity during a summer of upheavals, striker Bryan Mbeumo should be the next to leave the club. They will trust that Ends can stabilize the ship before a hinge stadium in the club’s Premier League trip.
